OHSU-Legacy Health: Employees
OHSU and Legacy Health plan to join as one health care system called OHSU Health. We see this as a once-in-a-generation chance to expand access to quality care in every community. Together, we can better achieve our missions to serve the people of Oregon.
Uniting OHSU and Legacy Health is a win for our health care workforce. The new OHSU Health will support hospitals and clinics statewide. It will provide better training and resources for our health care professionals. A stronger health care workforce means a healthier Oregon.

Our goals
We’re setting goals for our service to the people of Oregon. These goals arise from four commitments:
We will achieve these goals only with the full support of employees.
Here are some ways we’re committing to employees.
Here are some ways we’re committing to employees.
Union contracts:
Three Oregon unions describe OHSU’s agreement with them as “historic.” These unions represent more than 14,000 OHSU and Legacy employees. They say OHSU made “unusual and unprecedented” commitments after listening to employees.
OHSU will honor all Legacy Health union contracts. Legacy’s union employees will remain covered by current contracts.

Jobs:
We do not plan cuts that affect employees in good standing in the first six months. Cuts that affect union employees will not happen in the first year.
Benefits:
Legacy employees will keep their benefits, including health insurance, retirement and seniority.
Pay:
We support pay equity. If a Legacy employee has a lower wage than an OHSU employee with the same job and experience, we will raise that wage.
Providers:
We will keep the way OHSU and Legacy physician and advanced practice provider groups are set up at first. We will discuss potentially uniting these groups over time, with input from providers. Hiring best-in-class physicians and advanced practice providers will continue to be a priority. We will use OHSU’s reputation to recruit top candidates from around the country.
Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging:
We will honor contract language about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. We will explore a labor-management committee to support DEIB learning and work across the new system.
