OHSU-Legacy Health: Quality
OHSU and Legacy Health plan to join as one health care system called OHSU Health. We see this as a once-in-a-generation chance to expand access to quality care in every community. Together, we can better achieve our missions to serve the people of Oregon.
Uniting OHSU and Legacy combines our expertise in one coordinated system. OHSU brings experience in specialty care, health care education and leading-edge research. Legacy brings deep roots in community care.
Together, we’ll provide the right care with the highest quality at the right time.

Our goals
We’re setting goals for our service to the people of Oregon. These goals arise from four commitments:
-
Quality
-
-
-
We’re also committing to our health care workforce.
Here are some ways we’re committing to quality.
Access:
Access to quality health care is a significant challenge in Oregon right now. We plan to improve access to quality care for all, including those with limited or no health care. We plan to reduce average wait times and expand primary care. We’ll use virtual care to expand access to quality and timely care.
Investment:
Uniting as one system means we’ll have economies of scale. We’ll reinvest the savings to improve quality.
Performance:
We’ll track quality indicators for patient care, including:
- Behavioral health care
- Care for people with chronic conditions
- Culturally responsive services
- Pediatric care
- Preventive care
- Reproductive health care
Education:
We’ll improve the quality of education and training for health care professionals.
Health equity:
We’re committing to quality care for all people and communities. Legacy Health Foundation will become a nonprofit focused on health equity. It will work to reduce disparities that affect quality of health.
Workforce:
We will support and create high-quality jobs that strengthen our workforce and economy.
